Are you interested in the intersection between education and entrepreneurship?

So are we.

Commitment to vision, values, and a culture that empowers.

Shared Vision

We see our children becoming homegrown leaders for our island community. We see these leaders committed to affecting positive change for our families, community, and islands. We share and are collectively committed to this vision for all of our children. Our vision, our north star, our Hokupa’a, guides us in all that we do.

Grounded in Hope

We are hopeful in all that we do. Our hope for opportunities and success for our children serves as the foundation for our work. We know that hope alone will not lead us to our destination, but it is a key, central ingredient in believing what is possible for our children.

Shared Values

We value the incredible potential in our children, the partnership of parents and family, and the promise of our community. We know that high expectations for what is possible, ownership of all outcomes, and a growth-oriented, empathetic environment of leadership development and identity affirmation will light the path ahead.

Tenacious Optimism

We are stubbornly optimistic in all that we do. If can, can… if no can, still can somehow and we have to figure out how. At DreamHouse, we find a way. We believe anything is possible and finding a way forward is part of our DNA.

Shared Culture

Our culture is driven by a deep belief in and unwavering commitment to our children. It is one of shared vision, values, and beliefs around our philosophy of education, grounded in the assets and potential of our children, and inspired by our conviction that we are responsible for, and interwoven with, the trajectory of our children.

Driven by Mission

Our mission is the manifestation of our vision. Our mission is to empower children to be affirmed in their identity, grounded in our community, and equipped with the skills necessary to be the future leaders of Hawai’i. We are driven by and committed to this mission every, single day.

We are striving to reimagine public education.

Not what is… not what was… but, what could be.

Our vision and dreams combined with resources and creative colleagues allow us the blessing of working with each other, each day to reimagine and create the public education learning experience that our children deserve. We are unsatisfied with the status quo and challenge ourselves to be part of creating a different future - for education, for ourselves, and for our kids.

We fail forward. Together.

Starting Hawai’i’s newest public charter school from scratch takes a lot, and we mean A LOT, of humility. There are times when we miss, and we try again, and miss, and try again - it is an endless loop of remaining open to feedback, growth moments, trying your hardest, and learning from every, single experience.

Failing is not a bad thing at DreamHouse; in fact, it is kind of a key ingredient and prerequisite for growth. Ask any of our kids, our Coaches, our supporters… DreamHouse fails forward, learns along the way, and is continuously looking for ways to get better. We do this together, committed to one another, and invested in a culture of supporting one another on their journey of growth.

Authentic, quirky, fun, humorous, flexible, collaborative, adaptable, energetic, creative...

Get what we are saying? We are looking for unique people to join our unique team during this unique moment in time. We are growing a school, together, through all of the ups and downs that come with public education, charter schools, and the educational landscape in the State of Hawai’i. If you can find joy in that struggle, and still be fun to work with, you should consider DreamHouse!

Start-Up Culture of Creation.

At DreamHouse, we create. Ideate, prototype, pilot, scale: we create. We create our own mission, vision, and values; we create our own curriculum, assessments, and instructional strategies; we shape, design, build, mold, and engineer project- and place-based learning experiences.

The start-up culture of DreamHouse is driven by the desire to reimagine education. This requires a beta-mindset (i.e. nothing is ever finished, it is just in beta-testing mode), openness to feedback and input (from students, parents, colleagues, academia), a focus on small, winnable moments of success and momentum, and a relentless commitment to learning, growing, getting better, and repeating.
